Cystic acne is the most ugly type of acne, which includes whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, and nodules besides cysts.
The cyst is usually filled with pus and resembles a lump. The most observed diameter of the cyst is at least 5 mm and is much more painful because it is deeper in the skin and gives rise to scars.

It is always advised to leave a cyst to heal on its own instead of squeezing it because squeezing it will give rise to a more deeper infection and increased pain and inflammation. Squeezing of an acne cyst often gives rise to the development of more cysts. Teenagers and youngsters are more vulnerable to cystic acne but sometimes adults suffering from hormonal disorders also becomes victim of this type of acne in the form of adult acne, hormonal acne, or body acne.

People suffering from cystic acne should immediately consult a qualified dermatologist to prevent formation of additional cysts and scars. It is also recommended to treat this type of acne as early as possible with the help of effective medications and antibiotics that prevent it from returning back. A number of over the counter products and prescription acne treatments are also available for safely treating severe conditions of cystic acne and causing all marks and scratches to disappear.

There are a number of causes that lead to cystic acne but the most commonly observed is unbalanced hormonal condition. During a womans menstrual cycle the skins oil gland becomes sensitive and reacts by producing an excess of sebum. This excess in sebum level makes the gland swollen and harden which later bursts underneath the skin causing pain and reddishness. People suffering from cystic acne should avoid use of heavy moisturizers in the affected areas and must wear an effective sunscreen while going out during the daytime.
