Clinique Skin Care for Acne
Whether you suffer from adolescent or adult acne, Clinique has developed a three-step acne skin care line to clear up your skin. Brown University Health Services recommends treating acne with over-the-counter medications like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide--both of which are found in the Clinique Acne Solutions line. Additionally, the McKinley Health Center at the University of Illinois recommends a consistent daily skin care routine to treat and prevent acne. The Clinique three-step system is designed to be used regularly, morning and night, to maintain the health of your skin and treat acne. Clinique also offers extra products to supplement their three-step skin care line to treat problem areas and deep clean your skin.
Wash your hands before starting. Apply one or two pumps of the Clinique Acne Solutions foaming cleanser into your hand, and apply the product to your face using your fingertips, avoiding the eye and lip areas. Massage the product into your skin using circular motions to allow the foam to penetrate deep into your pores. Concentrate on each section of your face for 30 seconds to ensure a deep cleanse. Rinse your face thoroughly with warm water.
Open the bottle of Acne Solutions clarifying lotion, and place a cotton cosmetics pad over the opening of the bottle. Turn the bottle upside down to apply the clarifying lotion to the cotton pad. Wipe the pad over your skin, concentrating on the oiliest areas of your face. Use two cosmetic pads to clarify your face if needed. Allow the clarifying lotion to dry on your skin--do not rinse your face.
Apply a small amount of the Acne Solutions oil-free clearing moisturizer to your fingertips, and pat your fingertips over your face. Massage the moisturizer into your face using circular motions, concentrating on any dry areas. Continue to massage until the moisturizer absorbs into your skin. Do not rinse your face.
Apply any spot treatments, such as the Acne Solutions emergency gel-lotion or the post-blemish formula, onto affected areas. Avoid the skin around your blemishes since acne medication can be drying on normal skin. Wait and allow spot treatment products to set before applying any products on top of the treatments to ensure they do not get wiped away. Apply acne treatments twice a day after moisturizing your skin.
Apply a facial mask weekly to deep clean your pores and treat your acne. Apply a small amount of the Acne Solutions oil-control cleansing mask to your fingertips, and massage the mask onto your face, avoiding your eyes and lips. Allow the mask to set for five minutes, then rinse your face thoroughly with warm water.
