Biore Blackhead Removal
Blackheads form when the pores become blocked by oil and dirt. As bacteria starts to form, the pore expands and a small black spot will appear on the surface of the skin. Biore is a company that manufactures skin-care products, including pore-cleansing strips designed to remove blackheads from your nose.
According to Biore, its Deep Cleansing Pore Strips are an easy way to cleanse your pores and remove blackheads. The manufacturer claims that the strips are "twice as effective" as other leading pore cleaners, and that using the strips will not only clear blocked pores but prevent blackheads from forming in first place.
How to Use
The pore strips are relatively simple to use. Wash your face, leaving the skin on your nose moist. Take a strip from the sealed pouch; twist it to separate the slits. Remove the protective liner and press the strip firmly across the bridge of your nose. Remove the strip after 10 to 15 minutes or when it feels dry and stiff. Peel it off slowly from the edges to the center.
Among the ingredients in Biore pore strips are glycerin, water, methylparaben and witch hazel extract. Biore also manufactures Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips that contain tea tree oil and menthol. The company claims these will "remove even the most stubborn blackheads." Acne Talks says that tea tree oil is beneficial for the treatment of blackheads because of its anti-bacterial properties. Witch hazel's astringent properties can help to reduce the size of large pores. Menthol stimulates the skin's sensory receptors and has a cooling effect.
Pore strips such as Biore often work, but the results are temporary, according to Dr. Lisa Kellett, cosmetic dermatologist with SpaMedica in Toronto. Although the strips may pull the blackhead from the surface of the skin, they do not always cleanse the depth of the pore.
Biore recommends that the pore strips are used no more than once every three days and only on the nose. Do not used pore cleansing strips if your skin is sunburned, swollen, dry or cracked -- or you have spider veins. If the strip is painful to remove, the manufacturer recommends that you moisten it slightly before peeling it off. If you have any discomfort or skin irritation after using Biore cleansing strips, stop using them immediately and consult a doctor.
