Acne is a frequent skin condition that a majority of people suffer from. There are many causes of acne development; some of them include environmental factors, mental stress and hormonal shifts in the body.

The androgen hormone induces the sebaceous glands to excrete excessive amounts of oil that blocks the skin pores. Bacteria and dirt manufacture within the skin pores leading to acne formation. Various treatments are available for acne treatment however the degree of effectiveness depends on the severity and type of acne. Over the counter treatment and homemade remedies are beneficial and effective for mild acne however for severe acne antibiotics and stronger medication are prescribed that carry heavy side effects. Therefore before taking any treatment it is recommended that a person gets significant amount of information concerning the skin condition and consult a dermatologist about the right form of treatment.

Treatment for body acne varies from treatment for facial acne since the skin conditions are different as well as the causes. Body acne is a result of excessive sweat in a particular area that is constantly covered, for example wearing tight clothes; helmet and bag packs often cause body acne. Usually over the counter medication works best especially benzoyl peroxide that can be applied directly onto the affected areas after taking a shower and applying a soft moisturizer or mild soap on the affected area. Benzoyl peroxide acts as an antibacterial agent killing bacteria, unclogging the pores and clearing the skin of acne. Some homemade remedies that can be applied include tea tree oil, rose water or sea salt that can be mixed with water while taking a bath. It not only work well for acne but its therapeutic properties allow the body to relax and the skin to get nourished.

In case the acne does not go away and appears to get worse it is advisable that a person consults a dermatologist before undergoing any treatment to avoid risks.
