Aromatherapy for Acne
Use of essential oils extracted from herbal plants, flowers and trees for achieving health and rejuvenation is called aromatherapy.
Acne is not only a skin disorder; it reflects your bodys internal condition and health. Aromatherapy helps maintain your overall body health. Being living structure, your body needs nutrients for healthy growth. The term healthy growth does not mean to have a certain amount of weight; it means proper functioning of internal organs, proper coordination among various organs through hormones.
How does aromatherapy helps cure acne?
Aromatherapy or use of herbal supplements rejuvenates and revitalize your body’s overall health including skin. Herbal supplements contain all essential nutrients that your skin and body needs for proper functioning. Following are the major ingredients of a standard herbal lotion for acne used in aromatherapy:
- Vitamins (Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, etc.)
- Minerals (Zinc, copper, Magnesium, Selenium, etc.)
- Moisturizers (Glycerin)
- Etc. Aromatherapy lotions may contain other substance not listed here
Vitamins are biocatalysts that trigger chemical reactions or growth of tissues. Hair follicles are made of epithelial tissues. Vitamin A and C increase rate of metabolism. Vitamin A, C and E are effective antioxidants that remove toxins from your body. Toxins induce the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum and results in acne, pimples, papules and pustules.
Studies show that zinc deficiency is directly associated with acne breakouts and hair loss. Normal production of testosterone produced by prostate gland requires efficient supply of zinc.
Moisturizers may include glycerin or any plant extracted oil. Moisturizers help repair damaged tissues and reduce inflammation.
Astringents are antibacterial herbal extractions that destroy propionibacteria within hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Most often acne is also caused by bacterial infection of hair follicles. Bacterial infection and inflammation narrows the hair follicles resulting in restriction of sebum discharge.
Therapy is usually done twice a day at morning and night before going to bed. Therapy at night helps you get calm sleep and get you relaxed.
Massage the Skin with Herbal Lotion:
If the pimples, papules, pustules are in your face, apply the lotion on the face and massage upward. Massaging the skin not only penetrates the lotion into deep skin layers but also it increases blood supply towards hair follicles.
The use of natural plant extracted oils and mineral is called aromatherapy. The therapy involves topical application of the lotion and massaging the skin. Herbal lotions are widely used as aromatherapy as they contain all essential nutrients and minerals needed for healthy body growth.
