 Acne is a skin condition that affects people of all ages. It is a common misconception that it only affects adolescent and disappears as they grow out of it. Acne can occur at any period of time and affects people in their teens as well as adult individuals in their middle ages.

There are numerous reasons identified to cause acne, some common causes include mental stress, environmental factors such as change of season and hormonal shifts in the body. The androgen hormone induces the sebaceous glands to excrete excessive amounts of oil that clogs the skin pores. Bacteria and dirt accumulates within the clogged pores leading to acne formation. Various treatments are available however the level of effectiveness varies based on the type and severity of the acne.

All kinds of treatments are prescribed by physicians and health experts however it will be repeatedly mentioned that in order for the skin health to be long lasting and the acne condition to be avoided a person should focus more on improving ones health, routine, hygiene and diet. Taking constant care for the skin is also essential. There is not enough substantial evidence that link establish a direct cause and effect relation between food and acne. However according to studies reducing the intake of certain food items have shown to reduce the skin condition to quite an extent. Such food items include dairy products, meat and any other item high on calories such as deep fried food.

Constant skin care is essential for a natural acne treatment  The affected areas should be washed at least twice daily. The skin should not be excessively washed since it can cause skin irritation and dryness. Skin care products  can be applied such as mild soap and gentle moisturizers or any other product that is oil free or non comedogenic. The affected areas should also not be rubbed, picked or touched since it can cause the acne to spread and lead to acne scarring.

In case the acne condition gets worse, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist who can prescribe the right form of treatment for the skin condition.
