Acne is an inflammatory condition that causes pink and red bumps to appear on the skin. The redness that can accompany acne breakouts can cause the skin to look blotchy and unevenly toned. In order to treat acne, while reducing redness and inflammation on the skin, it is important to avoid chemical acne products. Using natural treatments that will both clear and soothe the skin will reduce acne and the redness that is often associated with it.

Step 1

Cleanse your skin with oatmeal, which cleans the skin while soothing redness at the same time. In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of oats with 1/2 cup of hot water. Once the mixture cools down, spread it over your skin. Massage the skin gently for three to four minutes, then wipe the oatmeal back into the bowl. Rinse off your skin well with water, and repeat two times per day.

Step 2

Treat individual acne breakouts with tea tree oil, which kills acne-causing bacteria while reducing redness and inflammation on the skin. Pour 8 oz. of water into a bottle, then add five drops of tea tree oil into it. Mix the two substances well, and soak a cotton ball in the diluted oil. Spread the diluted tea tree oil over the area affected by breakouts. Repeat two times per day after cleansing the skin.

Step 3

Apply a weekly oil facial using a soothing, non-comedogenic oil to flush out the pores and balance out oil production. Spread 1 tsp. of olive oil onto your skin, and massage it in for three to four minutes. Drape a steaming hot washcloth over the area, and allow it to remain there until it completely cools down. Use the wet washcloth to wipe away the oil. Repeat twice per day after applying tea tree oil.
