Acne Oral Contraceptives

Oral contraceptives and acne sometimes do happen to go along together quite well.

In order to cure acne, doctors often prescribe oral contraceptives to women and if you happen to be using them, here are some things you need to know about acne oral contraceptives.

Effectives of Oral Contraceptives
Most brands of oral contraceptives are very effective in controlling acne and some of them are also approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the US government. If you happen to order for the contraceptives online, make sure that you search for those that are approved as that will be safe to use, without much worries.

Do Not Use Contraceptives Alone
Do not rely solely on contraceptives, as they can become harsh for your body and for your skin. Try to use contraceptives along with other acne treatments  such as home remedies, or even creams and antibiotics. The contraceptive pill is the last resort any doctor would recommend as for treating acne; often other pills are given consideration first. When through use of antibiotics and other pills, the matter doesn’t seem resolved then oral contraceptive is administered.

Clash of Medications
When taking oral contraceptive pills for acne, make sure that you do not take medications for any other disease and if you do, then it is imperative to inform the doctor about it. Most of the time medicines could clash and interact with each other that could trigger a reaction in the body, resulting in reduced effectiveness and worse allergic reactions.

Oral Contraceptives Is Not For Everyone
Don’t just go and buy oral contraceptives when you have acne, as you need to first understand whether you really suit it or not. Most women suffer from serious side affects after taking the acne oral contraceptives and they are mostly not suitable for women of 35 years and older and for those who smoke or have migraines. Whatever it is oral contraceptives do cause an amount of side affects and one should take precautions while using them.

Never purchase these on whims of other people, but rather have a thorough consultation with a specialist/dermatologist or a doctor.
