Overview

Acne breakouts can cause the skin to develop pink and red bumps, which can often contain puss. These breakouts can be itchy and irritated, and can cause many people to try and pick or pop them. Unfortunately, popping acne breakouts can lead to acne scarring and skin discolorations. If you discover that you have acne marks and scarring on your face, you can help these marks diminish by following a routine that softens the skin, exfoliates the scarred tissues, and tones the skin to help balance out the skin tone.

Step 1

Soften acne marks by applying an olive oil facial. Spread 2 tsp. of olive oil onto the skin, and massage it in deeply with circular finger movements. Focus on the areas most affected by acne marks. After two to three minutes, drape a steaming washcloth over the area, and use it to wipe off the oil once it cools. Repeat twice per day.

Step 2

Remove scarred tissue by applying an exfoliating scrub. Pour 2 tbsp. of baking soda into a bowl, then add 2 tsp. of water. Spread the paste that is created onto moistened skin, and massage it in for two minutes. Rinse off the paste with warm water. Repeat twice per day after applying the oil facial.

Step 3

Balance out the skin tone by applying an acidic toner. Soak five to six cotton pads in concentrated lemon juice, then place them onto the skin. Focus on the areas that are the most affected by scarring. After 10 minutes, remove the pads to let the skin dry. Repeat twice per day after exfoliating the skin.
