Acne Drug

Acne is a painful condition especially for a person who is surrounded by spotless people.
Several lotions, gels, creams and antibiotics containing benzoyl peroxide are available to treat this distressing problem but in situations when these medications are not enough an acne curing drug called isotretinoin is used which is only available with a prescription from a dermatologist.

The main reason why an acne sufferer starts using drug is not the acne but the resulting scars, which doesnt go away easily and lasts forever. These scars leave a very ugly impact on the face and often enter a person into embarrassing situations. Isotretinoin is used to clear up severe acne and prevents scarring by reversing the changes caused by it and reducing the amount of sebum in skin glands. It also opens clogged pores and reduces inflammation.

Although Isotretinoin cures acne quickly and makes your skin spotless, it does have various side effects:

  • Women should avoid pregnancy while using this drug as it may cause severe abnormalities in the foetus.
  • It introduces feelings of severe depression especially in teenagers which ultimately results in suicides
  • Burning, redness, peeling or pain on the lips
  • Itching of the eyes
  • Bleeding of the Nose
  • Pain in the abdomen
  • Bleeding from the rectum
  • Conditions of Severe diarrhea
Side effects like this often put pressure on parents who stop their children from taking such life taking drugs which means a person has to live with acne scars forever. It is advised that usage of this acne drug should not be completely banned but dermatologists should only prescribe it when other treatments aren't working and should continuously monitor the mental as well as physical situation of the patients.
