About Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment About Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment

Overview

Neutrogena's Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment Lotion has been discontinued despite overwhelming customer support and positive reviews. While Neutrogena does offer other acne control lotions, including the Complete Acne Therapy System, loyal consumers of the original multi-vitamin lotion continue to state how effective this product was. One can expect the price of this extremely popular product to continue rising as remaining stocks are depleted.

Ingredients

The main ingredient in the multi-vitamin acne treatment lotion is 1.5 percent salicylic acid. Other ingredients include vitamin A, E and B5; oat, grape, honey and kiwi fruit extracts; glycerin; cetyl alcohol; glycolic acid; and FD&C colors yellow #5 and red #40.

Salicylic Acid

The National Library of Medicine confirms that salicylic acid reduces swelling and redness and helps to unblock plugged pores. While some salicylic acid concentrations may require a prescription, the 1.5 percent concentration in this multi-vitamin lotion is available over the counter.

If you're taking aspirin, diuretics, using products that contain methyl salicylate, have kidney, liver or blood vessel disease or diabetes, or are pregnant, you should consult a doctor before using salicylic acid products.

Side Effects

Salicylic acid may cause excessive skin peeling or dryness; if this happens, reduce the frequency of the application until the symptoms subside. Call your doctor if you experience severe or persistent skin irritation and stinging.

Other possible serious side effects, which require an immediate call to your doctor, include confusion, dizziness, extreme weakness, headache, fast breathing, hearing problems, vomiting, diarrhea and nausea.

Availability

Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment Lotion has been discontinued. It was available online as retailers sold down remaining stock and private individuals and resellers distributed it via auction sites like eBay. There is still an active, vocal following of consumers who used the product and felt it provided unparalleled results.

Use

Once a day, smooth a thin layer of the Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment Lotion over your freshly cleansed face, carefully avoiding your eyes and mouth, and leave in place; the lotion is intended to be so light and smooth that it quickly soaks into your skin. May be used underneath a heavier moisturizer.
